Job Role

Role Overview:

As a Campaign Officer at the Amnesty International Thailand (AITH), the role involves advancing AITH's mission through comprehensive administrative, programmatic, and strategic support. Responsibilities include coordinating impactful campaigns, facilitating resource allocation, engaging in strategic planning, documenting key activities, and supporting the Senior Campaign Officer. A Campaign Officer contributes to the development of new program areas, coordinate logistics for public campaigns, and occasionally supervises volunteers.
Engaging in other Amnesty initiatives, a Campaign Officer fosters synergies nationally and globally, collaborating with government agencies, international organizations, and contributing to research, and public positioning. Additionally, the role plays a key part in implementing training and empowerment tools, contributing to the emergence of active and ethical circles of conscience at the national level. This role provides a unique opportunity for impactful human rights advocacy in Thailand and internationally.

 

Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Planning and Strategy

Key Activities

  • Engage in the formulation of holistic strategies and plans for campaign and communication in human rights, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals and strategy. 
  • Work closely with Senior Campaign Officer on campaign documents and proposals.
  • Document, organize, and archive materials and output in Share Point and Office’s warehouse.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of campaign plans and components of country action and strategic plans, identifying gaps and proposing effective solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to maximize the impact of campaign initiatives.

Campaign implementation

Key Activities

  • Lead in innovative design and conduct activities and actions with individuals at risk and stake holders within the agreed-upon campaign annual work plan and budgetary parameters.
  • Timely delivery, quality control, administration, follow-up on financial matters, and provision of financial support in accordance with AITH policies, procedures, and organizational requirements.Contribute tocampaigns’ monitoring by engaging in research efforts and gathering information for the development of new campaigning program areas.
  • Actively participate in and support the Senior Campaign Officer in proactive and rapid response campaigns,urgent actions, and international solidarity actions requested by other sections globally
  • Support Campaign team members with logistics and coordination related to the campaign actions and plan under the supervison of Senoir Campaign Officer.
  • Coordinate relevant stakeholders and rights holders in organizing public campaigns successfully, ensuring thorough follow-and execution in line with established plans. 
  • Support the compilation of inputs for campaign reports and updates, narrative and financial campaign reports.
  • Occasionally supervise volunteers and interns on specific projects as delegated by the Senior Campaign Officer.

Supporting

Key Activities

  • Engage in and support other Amnesty initiatives nationally, regionally, and globally to foster comparative understanding and synergies across the Amnesty movement through solidarity actions.
  • Assist the Senior Campaign Officer in coordinating with government agencies, international organizations, and related entities to facilitate AITH’s participation in various campaigning activities.
  • Collaborate with the Communication team to refine information related to campaign content for effective dissemination and outreach.
  • Provide support to the AITH team in contributing to Amnesty’s research efforts and enhancing public positioning in policy dialogues, public events, social and mass media engagement under the supervision of Senior Campaign Officer.
  • Support the AITH team in implementing online and offline training, as well as other empowerment tools, spaces, and methodologies to foster the emergence of active, empowered, and ethical circles of conscience at the national level.

Person Specification

Education & certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, human rights education, or development studies.

Essential experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in advocacy, campaigns, or other change management, with a focus on influencing duty-bearers within the development sector, social movements, or community organizing.

Essential knowledge

  • Understanding of diverse contemporary human rights issues at both local and global levels.
  • Understanding of a rights-based approach, social justice principles, citizen empowerment, and political citizen, and gender-sensitive methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of advocacy strategies tailored for nonprofit organizations, with a particular emphasis on human rights issues.

Essential skills and abilities

  • Proven communicating skill with strong analytical, presentation, and digital skills, accompanied by confidence.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Thai language; fluency in written and spoken English is desirable.
  • Skills in networking, coordinating, maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners.
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills, including the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to think strategically to analyse human rights situations in relation to national laws and policies.
  • Excellent ability to drive persuasive conversations or deep canvassing between advocates and the public.
  • Excellent ability to collaborate internally and externally, fostering teamwork across diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to react to rapidly changing political situations and promote creative thinking through innovative campaigning tactics.
  • Ability to coordinate financial and other resources to support campaign initiatives.
